Dolly Rebecca Parton

Dolly Rebecca Parton was created on January 19 1946 in Pittman Center (Tennessee). She was the daughter of Avie Lee Parton and Robert Lee Parton in Sevierville. Parton is a homewife and Parton is a tobacco farmer. When she was 12, she was performing on Knoxville TV and at 13 she had already begun recording on an obscure label and performing on the Grand Ole Opry. She relocated to Nashville in 1964 to begin her country singing career after she had graduated from high school. Carl Dean, an asphalt-paving businessman, fell in love with her and they were married on May 30th June, 1966. Porter Wagoner saw her singing and asked her to be a guest on The Porter Wagoner Show (1961). She remained on the show for 7 years, their duets became famous and she performed with his group at the Grand Ole Opry; she also performed on tour and sold records. The hit song from her 1970 album "Joshua" was ranked at #1, her fame was so great that she was unable to compete with the fame of his. In 1974, she set out alone and recorded duets with the singer. He was gone and she began her solo career in 1974. Dolly was a massive success as a songwriter/singer. Dolly has won many Country Music Association awards (1968 1970, 1970, 1971 1975, 1976). The diminutive (5'0") beauty was an ideal candidate for TV at the time, and by the middle of the 1970s she was frequently appearing on talk and TV specials shows prior to launching her own, Dolly (1976). In 1977, Dolly got her first Grammy award: Best Female Country Vocal Performance for her song "Here You Come Again." Dolly made her movie debut in 9 to 5 in 1980. She was nominated for an Oscar for the song that was the title, as well as Grammy Awards 2/3: Best Country Song and Best Female Country Vocal Performance.
